There are 37 documented misspellings of the name. Of the 6 sons who lived to adulthood, only 2 kept the original spelling, Lambertus. These were Jacob and Louis. Peter, William, & John use, Laumbattus. This makes it easy to identify the descendants.Weber Philip Lambertus,II left a widower with 7 children, and only recently discharged from Civil War Service, broke up housekeeping and placed his children with relatives for a time. The baby girl died shortly after her mother's death and believe that Weber Philip left the Belleville area around this time and moved to Perry Co. IL Weber Philip and his son Philip both served in the Civil War at the same time and in the same Company. Their war records became mixed up and there was endless red tape involved when it came time for each of them, and their widows to draw a Civil War pension.There is a source that thinks there were 12 children born to this union, but have 8 known.There were 3 people with Philip in their names.
