Henry Leon "Butch" Haurez, 60, of New Bern, N.C., and formerly of Danville, Ill., died Thursday evening (Oct. 2, 2003) at his home in New Bern.
Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13 at Pape Memorial Home and Cremation Gardens, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, IL. 61832; Officiating: Rev. Jay Sorrell; Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13 at Pape's; Burial: Greenwood Cemetery; Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
Butch was born Nov. 28, 1942, in Danville to Henry Leon and Helen Geraldine Keerns Haurez. He attended Liberty GS and graduated from DHS in 1961. He had served with the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and had been a power house operator at Tilton Central Foundry before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Craven County, N.C., VFW Post #2514. He enjoyed golf and bowling and especially spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
Butch married Debra Lynn Bartenschlag on May 26, 1979, in Danville, Ill., and she survives. Also surviving are three children: Tim (Dena) Haurez and Wendi (Dwayne) Singleton of Lewisburg, Tenn., and Randy (Beth) Haurez of Westville, Ill.; two sisters: Marlene (Gene) Moore of Geneseo, Ill., and Sharon (Mike) Martini of Hallsville, Texas; five grandchildren: Josh, Justin, Hannah, Hunter and Hailee; his mother, Geraldine Greenwood of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother-in-law: Mark (Amy) Bartenschlag of Danville, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
