Obituary for Brian Lee Fleahman
Brian Fleahman, age 53, of Ivanhoe, MN, passed away after his battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Hendricks Community Hospital in Hendricks, MN.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30am on Saturday, March 15th at the Ss. Peter Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe with Father Ron Huberty as celebrant. Visitation will be 5 to 8pm on Friday, March 14th at the Birk Funeral Home in Ivanhoe with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Ss. Peter Paul Catholic Cemetery in Ivanhoe.
Birk Funeral Home of Ivanhoe is entrusted with the arrangements.
Brian Lee Fleahman was born on January 27, 1961 in Tyler, Minnesota to parents LeRoy and Irene (Biranowski) Fleahman. He was raised in Ivanhoe and graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1979. He went to vo-tech in Wilmar for auto body for one year and then attended one year of architectural drafting in Canby. He had become employed by Divine Providence Hospital and nursing home as maintenance personnel and later Lincoln HI High School. Brian achieved his dream of becoming a business owner in 1997 with the start of Finishes by Fleahman.
Brian was united in marriage to Rita Hauger on August 7, 1982 in Ivanhoe at Ss. Peter Paul Catholic Church. To this union they were blessed with two sons, Brandon and Corey.
Brian enjoyed collecting anything and everything Ford Mustang related. Working, building and creating with his hands was a true passion for him. Attending his boys sporting events was a highlight as well as reading. He valued his time spent visiting with friends and family and he will be remembered by those who knew him for his witty sense of humor.
He was member of Ss. Peter Paul Catholic Church; the EDA and a 14 year member of the Ivanhoe City Council.
Grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 31 years, Rita Fleahman of Ivanhoe; his two sons, Brandon Fleahman of St. Paul, MN and Corey Fleahman of Ivanhoe; one sister, Kim (Rod) VanderZiel of Marshall; one brother, Charles (Vicki) Fleahman of Ivanhoe; four nephews, Dan and Evan VanderZiel and Zach and Brett Fleahman and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Irene Fleahman; his grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles and in-laws. Blessed be his memory.
