Bernice L. Schoeppner, age 74 of Caldwell, OH, passed away Tuesday Morning, March 23rd, 2010 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, OH. She was born July 25th, 1935 in Noble County, OH, a daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth Nau Shafer. Bernice was a member of St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Church where she was very active and where she also participated in the Catholic Women’s Club. She enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing, especially quilting which led to her membership in the Caldwell Quilt Guild. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son Albert Francis Schoeppner; 3 Brothers Bernard, Alfred and Andrew Shafer. She is survived by Husband Howard R. Schoeppner of the home, whom she married November 19, 1955; 5 Sons Charles (Linda) Schoeppner of Athens, OH, Gary Schoeppner of Charlotte, NC, Patrick (Krista) Schoeppner of Caldwell, Samuel (Julia) Schoeppner of Port Trevorton, PA and James (Kristine) Schoeppner of Caldwell; 2 Daughters Charlene (James) Ackley of Plymouth, MN and Lori (David) Collier of Columbus, OH; 18 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters Margaret (Harold) Schockling of Caldwell and Mary (Phil) Harding of Fulda. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends will be received Friday, March 26th, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 with a Vigil Service held at 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, March 27th, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fulda, OH with Rev. Father Thomas Hamm Officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
