Raymond B. Trusch, 79, of South Windsor, beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Hughes) Trusch, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 16, 1934 in Queens, NY, son of the late Nicholas P. and Marie C. (Shanahan) Trusch. Raymond graduated from John Adams High School in 1952, City College of New York in 1957, and obtained his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with the Class of 1961. Raymond lived in West Hartford and Windsor Locks before moving to South Windsor in 1962. He was a communicant of St. Margaret Mary Church. Raymond worked as a Chief Engineer with Hamilton Standard's Space and Sea Systems and retired in 1990 after 34 years of service. He was involved in projects related to the Apollo Space Missions and Space Shuttle, and received several patents. Raymond had a love for the water and boating and enjoyed summers at his lake home in Wales, MA. He enjoyed traveling around New England. A kind, caring and devoted family man he will be greatly missed. He leaves his children, Jeanne M. Doerr and her husband Robert of Burlington, John R. Trusch and his wife Lisa of Wolcott, Robert B. Trusch and his wife Kimberly of Somers and Loraine H. Lombard and her husband John of Stratford; his brother, Donald Trusch and his wife Maria of Lake Worth, FL; his sisters, Eileen Platte of Lake Worth, FL and Joan Kelley of Yorktown Heights, NY; 7 grandchildren, Bryan and Steven Doerr, Matthew, Danielle, Jessica and Kyle Trusch and Sydney Lombard, a great grandson, Valentino Raymond Doerr, and his brother-in-law, Louis Fiori of Staten Island, NY. He was predeceased by his sister, Rosemarie Fiori. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 9 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. His family will receive friends on Monday, July 7, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation, sent to AA&MDSIF, 100 Park Ave., Suite 108, Rockville, MD 20850 and / or make a donation or give blood to the American Red Cross.
