Birth: Jan. 16, 1920 Death: Oct. 20, 2011 Kathleen Verna Lucid Bender, age 91, of Sioux Falls, SD formerly of Mitchell, SD died Thursday October 20, 2011 at Palisade Manor in Garretson, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday October 22, 2011 at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Will Funeral Chapel. Kathleen Verna Lucid Bender, daughter of Clarence and Josephine (Driggs) Knutson, was born January 16, 1920 near Cuthbert, SD. She graduated from Letcher High School in 1938. Kathleen was united in marriage with Richard Glenn (Buster) Lucid on July 2, 1938 at Olivet, SD. Kathleen and Buster lived on a farm near Letcher. Buster died on April 29, 1980. Kathleen moved to Mitchell and later married Delbert Bender in May of 1982. The couple lived on a farm near Fulton until they built a new home and moved to Mitchell, SD. Delbert passed away in December of 1998. Kathleen moved to Sioux Falls in 2005. In February of 2009, Kathleen resided at the Palisade Manor Nursing Home in Garretson, SD until her death. Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, Dennis (Kayleen) Lucid, Sioux Falls, SD, Renee (Garry) Schuster, Sioux Falls, SD; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Hanson, Deborah Waddell, Dean Lucid, Troy Schuster, and Cory Schuster; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, LaVern Knutson, Lakewood, CO and Marion Dean Knutson, Rapid City, SD; two step children, Kay Williams, Rapid City, SD, and Danny (Mitzi) Bender, Las Vegas, NV; five step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; a grandson, Daniel Lucid; and three brothers, Darwin, Delbert and Leroy.
