Betty L. Helbling, 74, Mandan, died March 18, 2005, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Charlie Heidt, celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home only.
Betty was born Nov. 24, 1930, the daughter of Emmanuel and Marie (Roessler) Staiger at Hebron. She was raised and educated in Hebron and graduated from Hebron High School in 1949. After high school, Betty was employed with Sweetheart Bakery in Bismarck where she did office work until 1958.
Eugene V. Helbling and Betty were united in marriage on Dec. 30, 1950, in Mandan. Eugene died in 1995.
Betty continued with her career working for Braun and Schaff/E.K. Williams, and in her more recent years and up until the time of her death she worked for Mark Geiger, CPA.
A very talented and artistic person, she enjoyed ceramics, was an expert seamstress and loved to garden.
Survivors include her daughter, Francie Ereth, Mandan; her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Peggy, Orlando, Fla.; her stepson and his wife, Fred V. and Sandy Helbling; two grandchildren, Joe and Tabitha Ereth; her brother, Wade Staiger, Moses Lake, Wash.; her sister, Ruby Perschke, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Helbling Wagner, Bismarck, Elaine Helbling and her husband, Jim Hundley, Rochester, Ill., and Donna and Bill Anderst, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
