Catherine was the daughter of Frederick M. and Ottilia (Riefers) Holdener, Sr.
She was married to Delmar J. Thouvenot on 11 June 1947 at St. Phillip's Catholic Church in East St. Louis, Illinois and they had a son and three daughters.
She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, Illinois; member of St. Teresa's choir and Legion of Mary, St. Teresa's quilters, the Linus Blanket Project, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Perpetual Help Sodality. She was also a member of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau and the Belleville Sister Cities.
She was survived by her son and three daughters; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; and brother-in-law.

Catherine R. Thouvenot, nee Holdener, 90, of Swansea, IL, born March 6, 1924, in East St. Louis, IL, died Sunday, July 6, 2014, in Cumming, GA.
Mrs. Thouvenot was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. She was a member of St. Teresa’s choir for many years and an active member of the Legion of Mary, St. Teresa’s quilters, the Linus Blanket Project, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Perpetual Help Sodality. Catherine was a member of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau and the Belleville Sister Cities.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Delmar J. Thouvenot, whom she married on June 11, 1947, at St. Phillip’s Catholic Church, East St. Louis, IL, and who died on December 8, 1993; her parents, Frederick M. Holdener Sr. and Ottilia, nee Riefers, Holdener; two brothers, Frederick Holdener Jr. and Anthony Holdener; a sister, Pauline Brisk; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Thouvenot; and three brothers-in-law, John Brisk Sr., Robert Schmiskie, and Melvern Thouvenot.
Surviving are a son and three daughters, Michael Thouvenot of Gold Bar, WA, Mary Therese (Robert) Poettker of St. Peters, MO, Sharon (Richard) Nixon of Lilburn, GA, and Virginia (Mark) Nixon of Canton, GA;
nine grandchildren, Christina Tainter (Tom Dubois), Scott (Shana) Poettker, Jason Poettker, and Jennifer Poettker, Bryan (Jennifer) Nixon, Faith (Jermaine) Davenport, Clark (Michelle) Nixon, Mary Jenna Nixon, and Todd Nixon;
16 great-grandchildren, Justin, Kavyn, Alexis, Tristan, Leianna, Jaina, Corran, Canyon, Jersey, Easton, Andrew, Jacob, Noah, Eli, Ivy, and Christian;
a sister, Agnes Schmiskie of Belleville, IL;
sisters-in-law, Lillian Holdener of Belleville, IL, Doris Holdener of Smithton, IL, and Delores Thouvenot of Columbia, SC;
a brother-in-law, Robert (Mary Lou) Thouvenot of Collinsville, IL;
and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Catherine was a gift to her family and friends. She gave selflessly of her time and talents. Her generosity and love will never be forgotten.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, and from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. The Daughters of Isabella will hold a ritual at 4 p.m. Friday and the Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, July 12, from the funeral home for a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. David Darin officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.
