Peter L. Masseth, 70, Bismarck, died Feb. 18, 2002, in a Bismarck care center. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in Worms Cemetery, Linton.
The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home. A Moose Lodge service will be held at 7:15 p.m., followed by a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
Pete was born Oct. 21, 1931, in Logan County to Adam and Philipina (Feist). He was raised on a farm and went to a country school in Logan County. Pete married Betty Horner in 1954, and they had seven children. Pete then attended Moler Barber College, and graduated in 1968. He worked at Super Valu Warehouse and 20th Century Sign Co. Pete later became the owner of B&M Siding Co. Pete also worked for many siding companies in the area. In 1986, Pete married Chris Bender.
He did a lot of volunteer work for the Bismarck Moose Lodge, and received the Rookie of the Year award in 1992. Pete loved to play cards, hunt, fish, play pool, read western books, watch western movies and he liked all kinds of sports.
Pete is survived by his wife, Chris; his sons, Leo (Dawn) Bender, Bismarck, Melvin (Kathy) Masseth, Peter (Lynette) Masseth and Kelly (Mariam) Masseth, all of Fargo; his daughters, Lavina (Jeffrey) Reed, Fargo, Germain (Steve) Bratcher, Vaughn, Mont., Sheila (Max) Dela Cruz, Sahuarita, Ariz., and Arlene Heth, Phoenix, Ariz.; his brothers, Sebastian (Maggie) Masseth, Bismarck, Adam (Mary) Masseth, Fargo, George Sr. (Mary) Masseth, Mandan, and Jim (Mary) Masseth, Peoria, Ariz.; his sisters, Mary Kraft, Jean (Val) Gross and Regina (Jim) Reuer, all of Bismarck, and Rosie (Willie) Vetter, Fargo; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.
