Mervyn Gessele Mervyn Dell Gessele, 72, Bismarck, died June 2, 2006, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Tim Jenks officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Mervyn Dell Gessele was born Sept. 21, 1933, to Henry and Katharina (Singer) Gessele, in Mercer, where he was raised and attended Mercer Rural School. He served in the U.S. Army, in Panama, from 1954 to 1956, and was united in marriage with Marilyn Schell on April 12, 1958. Merv worked for Midway Furniture in Mandan and JC Penney in Bismarck before starting his own business, Merv's Janitorial and Lawn Service, in 1970. He retired in 1998. Merv was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, serving on its property management committee for over 30 years. He was also a member of the AMVETS. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Bismarck; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gary Miller, Fargo; his daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Peter Vogt, Bloomington, Minn.; three grandchildren, Anna Seibold, Benjamin Miller and Isaac Vogt; three sisters, Ella Berg, Wilton, Lyla (Stan) Nicolson, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Aletha Vossler, Bismarck; two sisters-in-law, Violet Gessele, Bismarck, and Eleanor Gessele, Mercer; his foster sister, Nancy Auch, Gackle; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Theodore, Edwin, Arthur and Leonard Gessele; and two sisters, Helen Gessele and Edna Lilja.
