  [S927] Obituary. THE DALLES, Ore. Ervin J. Bender, 71, passed away Aug. 30, 2004, after a short battle with cancer. Dad enjoyed boating, fishing and Louis L'Amour novels. He is survived by his wife, Neva of The Dalles, Ore.; two sisters and a brother; Neva's daughter and son-in-law; his children, Tim, Russ, Leanna, Rena and Bradley; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dad is to be put to rest with our mother at Fort Snelling in Minnesota. There will be a small memorial service at noon Saturday at St. Pius Catholic Church.
