Frieda was born on November 10, 1930, in Hebron, ND, to Henry and Mary (Bender) Hartmann. She graduated from Hebron High School in May 1949. On September 11, 1949, she married Werner Kinnischtzke in Hebron. They made their home in Bismarck where she worked for the Health Department at the State Capitol and worked as a cook in various restaurants.
In April 1956, Frieda and Werner bought a farm northeast of Tappen where Frieda was active with all the farm work, gardening, and also raising her family, which was six kids in ten years.
In 1971, she and Werner bought a house in Tappen and leased out the farm. Here she worked as a cook at the school and at restaurants in Steele and Tappen until 1983 when they bought the Tappen Café and owned it for four years. In 1987, they moved to Apple Valley, CA, where she worked as a cook. She retired in 1992 and devoted her time collecting cookie jars and spoons from all over the world. She especially enjoyed embroidery and was very committed to it until her health began to fail.
