Robert M. Dolby was born Feb. 15, 1925 in Detroit, MI. He died Feb. 10, 2002 in Lansing, MI. at the age of 76. Mr. Dolby was a verteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Navy aboard submarines. He was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone for 36 years, retiring in 1882. Mr. Dolby was a life member of the V.F.W. Edwin J. Leyanna Post #671, DeWitt, MI, and the honor guard. He enjoyed playing golf.
He was preceeded in death by his first wife, Phyllis, in Feb., 1992 and 2 grandchildren, Joseph and Ashley Dolby.
Surviving are his wife of 9 years, Joanne; 5 daughters, Cathy (Philip Jr.)Warren of Perry, Cindy Mahoney and Dawn Gilbert both of Naples, FL, Angela (Michael) McKone of Morrice, and Lisa Waldrop of Discovery Bay, CA; 4 sons, Michael (Lori) Dolby of Carson City, Mark (Joan) Dolby of Lansing, Ronald Gilbert of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Randy (Jenifer) Gilbert of Lansing; 19 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 13, at 4 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel 111 S. Franklin St., DeWitt, with the Rev. Scott Hergert, pastor of the First United Brethren Church of Lansing officiating, with Military Services being provided by the V.F.W. Edwin J. Leyanna Post #671, DeWitt. The family will receive friends at the Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
