SIOUX CITY | Ralph G. Hagge, 52, Sioux City, passed into eternity and into the open arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Jan. 29, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Salem Reformed Church in Menno, S.D., with the Rev. Michael Hecht officiating. Burial will be in West Our Savior’s Cemetery, rural Menno. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. today, with a 4 p.m. funeral at Central Baptist Church, 4001 Indian Hills Drive in Sioux City, with the Rev. Lloyd Grant officiating. Visitation will resume 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 3 to 5 p.m., at Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel in Menno.
Ralph Gideon Hagge was born on March 25, 1961, to Calvin Walter and Cornelia Louise (Mettler) Hagge, in Yankton, S.D. Ralph grew up on a farm southwest of Menno. He graduated from Menno Public School in 1979. He attended South Dakota State University earning an associate degree in general agriculture. He farmed four years with his father and then returned to SDSU, earning a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering.
Ralph married Dawn A. Haase in 1989. God blessed them with three daughters. Ralph worked at Mid-American Energy Company in Sioux City and Storm Lake, Iowa. He also worked at Electrical Consultants in Billings, Mont., Cannon Technologies in Sioux City, and Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative in Le Mars, Iowa. In 2010, Ralph was diagnosed with head and neck cancer which resulted in surgery and multiple rounds of chemo and radiation therapy.
Ralph is survived by his daughters, Audrey Hagge of Orange City, Iowa, and Emily and Abbey Hagge and their mother, Dawn Hagge, all of Scotland, S.D.; his father, Calvin (Alice) Hagge of Menno; his sisters, Mary (William) Schoenfish of Menno, Karen (Kevin) Brasser of Paullina, Iowa, Nancy (Jeffrey) Hanka of Hermosa, S.D., and Susan (Dean) Fuerst of Huron, S.D.; 15 nieces and nephews; and two grandnieces.
Ralph was preceded in death by his mother, Cornelia (Mettler) Hagge; his grandparents, Karine and Ralph Hagge and Adella and Gideon Mettler; and two nieces.
