Irmina Thompson

Mishawaka-Irmina Thompson, 84, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011 in Golden Living Center, Mishawaka.
Irmina was born on February 27, 1927 in Monroeville, PA. She was a Flight Nurse with the United States Air Force. Irmina quit to get married and raise a family. She was married on September 16, 1963 to George Thompson II who preceded her in death on March 5, 2007.
Surviving are her son, George (Irene) Thompson III; a grandson, George Thompson IV and granddaughter, Kathryn G. Thompson; a sister, Mary Connors of OH; and two brothers, Eugene and Raymond Burkhardt both of PA. George III is currently assigned to the U.S Army in Germany with his family. George IV is also assigned to the U.S. Army in Germany in a different location.
Irmina was a loving person who cared for all around her. She enjoyed making flower arrangements for the other residents of Golden Living Center. Irmina often lead in the organization of various memorial or patriotic holiday parties at the center which were well supported by the centers activities director, local groups and a number of other community wide organizations. She never met anyone who did not become a friend. She will be missed by all who knew her but always in their hearts.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 11 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Mishawaka with Pastor David Miller officiating.
As per Irmina's wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to IU Medical Center, Indianapolis, IN.
Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
