NOTE; WA State Death Certificate has Langley for place of death and his obituary has Clinton, WA.
His father was Chris Oldenburg and his mother, Magdeline (List) Oldenburg.
He grew up on a small farm and received his education in a nearby grammar school. He passed the teachers' exam and was authorized to teach in rural schools in IL. After two years he decided to come west to Spokane, Spokane County, WA. In 1901 he and his brother Charles went to Almira, Lincoln County, WA where he filed on a homestead 13 miles east of that town.
He married Ida May Gwinn 11 February 1904 Spokane, Spokane County, WA. They lived on his farm until November 1918 and then they moved to Harrington, WA. He stayed there until 1930. When his daughter married he moved to Wenatchee, WA. and worked for a company. Following an operation in January he moved to Whidbey Island on the WA coast and he died a few months later.
His death was from a heart attack.
They had three children:
