RIPLEY, Ohio — J. Theresa Schumacher, age 85 of Ripley, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008 at Adams County Regional Medical Center near Seaman, Ohio.
She was a retired secretary and medical transcriptionist. She had worked at the former Hayswood Hospital and the Denham Clinic in Maysville, the Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio and for Dr. Franz in Ripley. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley and was a volunteer at St. Michael School in the 1990s.
Mrs. Schumacher was born on June 14, 1923 in Flemingsburg, the daughter of the late James Bowman and Mary Rose (Fay) Cropper. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Downing and Agnes Cooper; and one brother, Joseph.
Mrs. Schumacher is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harold Schumacher; three daughters, Terri Schumacher of Cincinnati, Gina Stopa and husband, Lou of New Orleans, La., and Kristi Parish and husband, Todd of Cincinnati; two sons, Gerry Schumacher and wife, Yvonne of Maysville and Greg Schumacher and wife, Trisha of West Union, Ohio; four grandchildren, Erik Stopa and wife, Corlee of Baton Rouge, La., Jason Stopa of New Orleans, Craig Stopa of Galveston, Texas and Laura Schumacher of Maysville; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Bowman Fussnecker and one brother, John Paul Cropper.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley. Rev. James Schmitmeyer will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 6- 8 p.m., Friday evening at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley.
Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley.
