Christine B. Whitman

Services will be conducted for Mrs. Harold A. Whitman Jr., the former Christine Boggs, 85, at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Langlois officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen Thursday at 8 a.m. until service time.
A native of Abbyville, Kan., and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Whitman died at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Garden View Assisted Living.
Mrs. Whitman was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army as a Nurse where she met her husband of 61 years. She graduated Valedictorian of LSU class of 1949 in Mathematics Liberal Arts. She began her teaching in 1962 and retired in 1980. She was a Pink Lady at Dauterive Hospital from 1980 until 2000.
She is survived by her husband of 6l years, Harold Anthony Whitman Jr.; children, David Harold Whitman and wife Hanh of Fairfax, Va., Gordon Terry Whitman and wife Ann of Plano, Texas, Dory Christine Thomassie of New Iberia, and Carol Frances Rodriguez and husband David of Mandeville; a brother, Leighton Boggs of South Bent, Ind.; a sister, Laurel Liston of DeKalb, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
Mrs. Whitman was preceded in death by her parents, George and Frances Shull Boggs; three brothers, George, Marshall and Robert Boggs; and two sisters, Elsie Boggs and Wilda Liomati.
Pallbearers will be David Whitman, Gordon Whitman, David Rodriguez, Patrick Thomassie, Daniel Whitman, Brian Rodriguez, Kevin Rodriguez and Phillip Whitman.
Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
