Ida Schauer
STERLING -- Ida M. Schauer, 85, Sterling, died May 23, 2002, in a Bismarck
hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral
Service Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial
will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and for one hour prior to services
Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service.
Ida M. Giese was born Feb. 17, 1917, in the Tuttle area, the daughter of John
and Sophie Giese. Her parents died when Ida was eight years old. She then
went to live with the Danz family in Menoken, who became her foster parents.
On April 7, 1934, she married Andrew Schauer, and they moved to a farm near
Sterling and later moved into Sterling.
Ida enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She especially enjoyed
spending time with her family.
Ida is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Gloria Schauer,
Hazen; six grandchildren, Lex Schauer, Fargo, Rick Schauer, Grafton, Mark
(Grace) Schauer, Beulah, Jason (Cynthia) Schauer and Jamie (Jen) Schauer,
both of Washburn, and Janae (Dan) Ingalls, Grand Forks; five
great-grandchildren, Dereck, Hailey, Anthony, Dylan and Jaelyn, and one
great-grandchild to be; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Marie
Giese, Fargo, and Clarence and Marilyn Giese, Arizona; one sister, Esther
Berg, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Vern and
Arlie; four brothers, Albert, Richard, Edwin and Carl; one brother-in-law,
Thor; and a special friend, Dutch Dralle.
