Gibson, 91, a loving husband, brother, grand-father and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, in Tallahassee, Fla. Mr. Gibson was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Elmer L. and Helen (Jenkins) Gibson on May 11, 1919, and has lived in Tallahassee since 2000. Wayne is survived by his three children, Susanne (Robert) Abernathy of Tallahassee, Nancy (George) McDaniel of Greenville, S.C. and Stephen (Ellen) Gibson of Westfield, Mass.; sister, Mary Lou Nappo of Fla.; grandchildren, Kristina Abernathy of Tallahassee, Ryan and April Abernathy of Jacksonville, Fla., Jason and Suzette McDaniel of Jersey City, N.J., Alison Abernathy of Tallahassee, Cheryl McDaniel of Denver, Co. and Kyle Gibson and Sarah Lloyd of Westfield, Mass.; and great-grandchild, Reid Abernathy of Jacksonville, Fla. Preceding him in death was his wife Lillian J. Gibson. Wayne was a veteran pilot of the U.S. Army Air Force and retired as a Lt. Colonel. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. EDT Monday, June 8, 2009, at the chapel of Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, 1700 N. Meridian Road. Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home at 1737 Riggins Road is handling arrangements. We will miss his loving, kind and joyous spirit.
