CATHERINE KESTER
CAYUGA, Ind. — Catherine Kester, 92, of Cayuga, passed away at 7:20 p.m. EDT Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
She was born April 10, 1915, in Ridge Farm, Ill., the daughter of the late Schuyler E. and Laura Bell McMahan Thompson. She married Shirley G. Kester on Jan. 30, 1933, in Silverwood. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1984.
Survivors: two daughters, Helen Jackson of North Mankato, Minn., and Marcella (J.R.) Young of Cayuga; 10 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty S. Dowers and Mildred Hutchens; and one brother.
Catherine was a homemaker. She was a member of the Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi and the Twin Lake Baptist Church in Mt. Home, Ark. She was a charter member of the Rosemont Baptist Church in Rosemont, Minn. Catherine enjoyed taking care of her home, quilting, raising African violets, going to church and eating out every Sunday with her friends.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. EDT Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga; Officiating: Rev. William Lehman; Burial: Miller Cemetery in Lodi; Visitation: 4-8 p.m. EDT Monday, March 24 at the funeral home.
