Marie Dewald, 75, Napoleon, ND, formerly of Streeter, died Wednesday afternoon, October 22, 2008 at the Napoleon Care Center in Napoleon, ND.
Marie Ethel Zentner was born May 10, 1933 at Burt, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Grace (Stern) Zentner. They moved to Gackle where she attended school and graduated from Gackle High School. She worked at the Martin Drug Store from 1952 until September of 1967.
She and Gerhardt Dewald were married June 19, 1959 at Gackle, ND. They made their home in Gackle until 1960 when they moved to Streeter. Marie worked at the Farm and Home Hardware Store from 1967 until December of 1975 when she began employment at the Streeter Co-op as bookkeeper. Marie worked there for 29 years. She retired in 2004. Her joys and hobbies were helping her grandson as he grew up across the street, reading, crocheting, sewing and going for coffee.
Due to failing health Gerhardt entered the Napoleon Nursing Home and Marie entered the Napoleon Assisted Living Center in July of 2005. Marie entered the Nursing Home in the spring of 2006. Gerhardt passed away March 12, 2007.
Marie is survived by a son Timothy (Sandra) of Streeter, ND, one grandson, Michael (Jody) and two great grandsons Parker and Carter of Fargo. She is survived by two sisters, Florence (Johnny) Miller of Lemmon, SD and Margaret (Ronnie) Rains of Paris, TX, one brother Norbert (Jane) Zentner of Green bay, WI, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Alex, Paul and Joseph, and parents.
In honor of her personal wishes there will be no formal services. To share your memories through the years will be a tribute to her. In memory of Marie share a smile, send a card or give from your heart to someone in need.
There will be a private family service at a later date, with inurnment at the Streeter Cemetery at Streeter, ND.
Arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.
