Tillie Dewald, 86, Gackle, N.D. died Friday, Dec. 24, at the Mandan Living Center.
Tillie Schumaker was born Sept. 20, 1924, the daughter of John and Christina (Albright) Schumaker. She grew up and attended school in the Streeter, N.D., and Steele, N.D., areas. She married John Dewald on Oct. 26, 1945. She helped on the family farm. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Gackle, and was active in church and senior citizen activities in Gackle and Streeter. She enjoyed quilting and baking.
She is survived by three daughters, Mavis (Michael) Dahlgren, Jamestown, Linda (John) Mindt, Mandan, N.D., and Kathleen Dick, West Fargo, N.D., a son Joel (Della), Gackle; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Dean; four brothers Alvin, Reuben, Harry and Albert; and two sisters, Viola Lang and Alice Olson.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Grace Baptist Church, Gackle, with the Revs. Bernie Jasken and Tim Blackman officiating.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Haut Funeral Home, Gackle, and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Burial: Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, in the spring.
