Ida Margaretha Preszler, daughter of Louisa (Handel) and John Preszler, was born at her parent's farm eight miles SE of Hosmer, SD on May 6, 1914. This is where she was raised and attended SW Sangamon District #6 Rural School. Following her schooling, she worked as a hired girl for neighboring families and also worked at her parent's farm. Ida married Edward J. Heyne at the Hosmer Reformed Church on April 18, 1937. They settled on Ed's home farm five miles north and 1 ¼ miles west of Roscoe. Ed died January 23, 1985 and Ida remained on the farm until 1988 when she moved into Roscoe. On October 29, 2007, she moved into Westwood Assisted Living in Roscoe and since January 18, 2012 had resided at the Golden LivingCenter. Ida and Ed belonged to Hope Lutheran Church until it disbanded in 1955 when they joined St. Paul's in Roscoe. Here Ida was active in Ladie's Aide and sang in the choir. She also belonged to the How and Why Extension Club and the Roscoe Senior Center. She was a faithful pinochle player at the Senior Center and enjoyed playing skip-bo with her friends at Westwood. Ida loved playing the organ and did so as long as she was able. She crocheted hundreds of doilies, quilted and sewed, did lots of crafts, and
enjoyed gardening.
Ida is survived by two sons—James (Rose) Heyne and Dennis (Joyce) Heyne all of Hosmer; one daughter Marcella (James) Mohr of Hosmer; a sister-in-law Esther Preszler of Roscoe; a brother-in-law William Nichols of Sacramento, CA; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father on July 7, 1957, her mother on January 5, 1974, her husband, five brothers, and three sisters.
Honorary bearers will be Carol Geier of Roscoe and Michelle Heyne of Aberdeen, SD.
Casketbearers will be Scott Heyne, Brad Heyne, and Kenny Geier of Roscoe, Greg Heyne of Herreid, SD, and Ryan Heyne and Jeffery Mohr of Hosmer.
