Roscoe --- The funeral for Eugene Preszler, 93, of Roscoe will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hosmer. The Rev. George Wieland will officiate.
Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery in Hosmer. Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle is in charge of arrangements.
A service of comfort will be at 8 p.m. Mon-
day at the funeral home in Bowdle.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, all at the funeral home in Bowdle. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church in Hosmer.
He died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
Eugene Preszler was born May 31, 1908, to Magdalena (Schnabel) and Christoph Preszler on the family farm five miles southeast of Hosmer. He attended rural school in Sangamon Township and college in Brookings.
He married Gertrude Ulmer on Sept. 21, 1930, in Hosmer. They lived on the family farm with his father for one year. In September 1931, they moved to a farm in Glen Township four miles west and one mile south of Roscoe. She died July 10, 1987. He retired from farming in 1992, and lived on the farm the remainder of his life.
He was a former member of Hosmer Reformed Church and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hosmer for 45 years. He was a clerk for Glen Township, director for Farmers Union Oil Co., a committeeman of Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, a committeeman for Edmunds County FHA and a longtime Roscoe Independent School District board member.
He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the Prairie Rose in Roscoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, two brothers and three sisters.
Casketbearers will be Ronald Preszler and Mark Preszler, both of Aberdeen, Gregory Preszler of Roscoe, Todd Preszler of Vermillion, Daniel Creegan of Parker and Kurt Preszler of Brookings.
