August Bender was a Minnesota National Guardsman called to federal service as a member of A Company, 194th Tank Battalion. He fought on Bataan and was killed in action while his tank was holding a bridge at Calumpit. He was surrounded by the Japanese and machine gunned to death.

Details: Private Bender was a Minnesota National Guardsman called to federal service as a member of A Company, 194th Tank Battalion. He fought on Bataan and was killed in action while his tank was holding a bridge at Calumpit. He was surrounded by the Japanese and machine gunned to death. His remains were not recovered.
While there is little of Fort Bonifacio remaining after the Philippine military has sold it off to private enterprise, the American Battle Monuments Commission (abmc.gov)whom operates this cemetery, sez this cemetery is located off McKinley Pkwy on McKinley Rd in the City of Taguig.
