Full Obituary: Memorial for Viola Kiesby Born in Huron, South Dakota on Dec. 26, 1912 Died on Nov. 10, 2004 and resided in Marquette, MI. Viola Kiesby, 91, formerly of 409 Lost Creek Drive, Marquette, died early Wednesday morning at the Norlite Nursing Center where she had resided for two months. Mrs. Kiesby was born on December 26, 1912 at Huron, South Dakota. She moved to Marquette in 1989 to be closer to her son, Jim. Viola previously managed the family owned motel in Huron, South Dakota for 15 years. She also managed the Huron Hotel for approximately 10 years. She was known for her gardening, which she tended to on a daily basis. She loved to cook Sunday meals for her family. When not in the garden, Viola enjoyed taking long walks. She also took great pride in attending her grandsons sporting activities. She had a love of and was an avid collector of antique dish wear. Survivors include one son, Jim Kiesby of Marquette; four grandchildren, Josh and Jake Kiesby of Marquette and Justin and Jared Kiesby of Los Angeles, CA; two great grandchildren, Davin and Henry Kiesby; also surviving are several sisters and brothers as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Herman Kiesby in 1982 and several brothers and sisters. There will be no local visitation or funeral service.
