Funeral services for Marie “Mary” Huber, 91 of Glen Ullin will be 10:30 a.m. (CDT) Thursday, September 29, 2011 at St. John’s Church, Hebron, ND with Rev. Gaylund Olson and Rev. Bill Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at the First Congregational Cemetery, Hebron. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (CDT) Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Spangelo-Stevenson Funeral Home, Glen Ullin, ND. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (CDT) Thursday at St. John’s Church. Marie passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Medcenter One in Bismarck, ND. Marie was born October 22, 1919 to Christian and Margaret (Kirschenmann) Ahl on the family homestead 15 miles NW of Hebron. She grew up with six brothers and four sisters. Marie was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John’s United Church of Christ. Marie married Fred Huber Jr. on June 5, 1938 and together they farmed north of Glen Ullin and raised three children. After Fred’s death in 1984, Marie moved to Glen Ullin. She volunteered at the Marian Manor Nursing Home, was a member of the Germans from Russia Heritage Society, and a member of First UCC Guiding Light and the church choir. Marie played piano by ear for her own entertainment and took much pride in canning, baking, making knoepla soup and especially homemade bread. Marie was able to enjoy many trips and cruises with her sisters and others and enjoyed telling jokes and stories. She is survived by three children, Charlene Thomas of Glen Ullin, Diann (John) Muller of Hoodsport, WA, and Jerry (Robin) of Salt Lake City, UT; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 15 step great-grandchildren and 11 step great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson Shannon Huber, son-in-law Joe Thomas, two infant siblings and ten brothers and sisters.
