75, Dies In Tornn&ton TORRINGTON Oct 11 (Spe- eial)-Alfred.W- Burg. 75, of 27 Forest St.; member of the City Board of Finance and retired executive vice president of the Torrington Co., died suddenly Wednesday night at the Torring ton dub. Death was due to coro nary thrombosis. Mr. Burg, a resident of Tor rington since 1917, was born in Allegheny, Pa., on Dec. 28, 1SS0, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Burg. Mr. Burg served the Torring ton Co. tor 3 years Deiore ms , retirement from active service with the concern in 1953. He continued to be available for consultation and had an oflice at company headquarters. On Finance Board .In addition to his duties with the Torrington Co. Mr. Burg was prominent in other business and civic organizations. He served the City of Torrhngton as a mem ber of the Board ot finance since 1933 and during World War II headed the local Draft Board. Mr. Burg was a communicant of Center Congregational Church-He was a former president of the Torrington Community Chest, a member of the board of gov ernors of Charlotte Hungerlord Hospital and was active in the Torrington Country Club, the : Torrington Club, the Torrington Rotary Club and the Boy Scout movement. He also was a.direc-tor and treasurer of the First Federal Savings and Loan Assn. -of Torrington. He became a director of the latter organization in 1926 when it was known as the Torrington Building and Loan Assn. and was elected treasurer In 1932. He continued as director-treasurer after the association was federalized in 1945. Lender In Scouting For his services to Scouting, Mr. Burg, in 1941, was presented the Silver ' Beaver award, highest m scouting, by the Northern Litchfield County Boy Scout Council. In April, 1950 .Tunxis Council presented him a Veteran Scouter Award. Mr. Burg also was a member of Seneca Lodge,. AFandAM, Clark Commandery, Knights
