CARL EMERSON AYERS SR. 1931-2004
WOODSFIELD Carl Emerson Ayers Sr., 72, of Sardis, Antioch Community, died Monday (Jan. 26, 2004) at Wetzel Community Hospital, New Martinsville, W.Va.
He was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Sycamore Valley, son of the late Isaac Ayers and Carrie Nalley Ayers.
Mr. Ayers retired from Ormet Corp. in Hannibal, where he served for 35 years as a D.C. caster.
He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, Eastern Star Lodge 268, Woodsfield, Masonic Lodge 300, Stafford, and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Marshall Ayers; a son, Leslie M. Ayers Sr.; a brother, Harold Ayers; and a sister, Pearl Lindamood.
He leaves his wife, Rosalie Borman Ayers of Sardis, whom he married May 12, 1962; two sons, Lewis Ayers of Whipple and Carl (Lori) Ayers Jr. of Clarington; three daughters, Mrs. Russel (Crystal) Eikleberry of Sardis, Mrs. Tom (Peggy) Winland of Lewisville and Mrs. Preston (Tina) McIntire of Clarington; a sister, Mrs. Floyd (Dorothia) Hall of Graysville; a brother, Melvin (Laura) Ayers of Sycamore Valley; a sister-in-law, Stella Ayers of Frazesburg; a brother-in-law, Ralph Lindamood of Massillon; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where services will be 1 p.m. Friday with Tim Fleeman officiating. Eastern Star services will be 7 p.m. and Masonic Lodge services will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Graysville.
