Willie F. "Bill" Kimbler, 83, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at his home near Hardy, Arkansas. He was born on January 26, 1933 at Thealka, Kentucky, the son of the late Paris and Sophia (McCloud) Kimbler.
Bill was a Korean War veteran (service number 331 62 48) who entered into service on May 24, 1950 at Huntington, West Virginia. As a gunner’s mate third class he served on the USS Missouri (BB-63) and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon (two stars K8 and K9) and the China Service Medal. He was discharged November 23, 1953 at Norfolk, Virginia.
He married Elaine (Kilzer) Holloway on April 8, 1991. She has preceded him in death on March 25, 2002.
His son Willie F. Kimbler, II has preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children Donna (Daniel) Beilke of Fairfax, VA, Marialise (Daniel Schott) Clarke, Marianda Kimbler, Marissa (Douglas) Oliver, Joshua (Arlene Foley) Kimbler, Justin Kimbler and step-daughter Freya Holloway of Marion, Ohio, and step-son John Holloway of Caledonia, Ohio. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Bill was the owner and operator of Kimbler’s Auto Service for many years in Marion, Ohio.
Upon retirement he moved to Hardy, Arkansas, where he built his home on twenty acres. He loved life in the country, watching the wild animals and tending his gardens.
His remains are to be turned over to the United States Navy where he will be buried at sea.
