Heupel, 81, Aberdeen will be 10 am, Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Sam Ellyson officiating. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post 24. Walter died Friday, March 25 at Aberdeen Health & Rehab. Walter Heupel was born on July 23, 1929 to Jacob and Rosina (Pfeiffer) Heupel at Ashley, ND. He grew up and attended school in the Wetonka, SD area. In 1951, Walter entered the US Army and was honorable discharged on June 4, 1953. On June 10, 1953, Walter married Ruth Heupel at Aberdeen, SD. They made their home in Aberdeen where he worked at various places. In 1974 he worked for the public school system. In 1985 Walter retired from the public schools due to his health. In 1988 he went to work for Rux Brothers Plumbing. Walter was a member of First Baptist Church. He was active in the Aberdeen Area Senior Citizens Center. Walter loved John Deere tractors and talking about the farm. He truly loved all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grateful for having shared Walter?s life are his wife, Ruth, two sons, Allan (Diane) Heupel of Aberdeen, and Arlen (Cari) Heupel of Aberdeen, daughter Cindy Bosma of Aberdeen, daughter-in-law Kathy Heupel of Aberdeen, seven grandchildren, Paula (Matt Martin, Matt Heupel, Jodi (Roger) Theis, Kimberly Heupel, Josh (Jessica) Bosma, Kelly (Colin) O?Brien and Angie (Derrick) Johnson, eight great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Brendan and Brady Martin, Kiana and Logan Theis, Emma Bosma, Rowan O?Brien and Avery Johnson, and two brothers, Jacob (Marlene) Heupel and Harry Heupel. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Gary Heupel, five brothers, and four sisters.
