Harold E. Haller
1924-2003
Boonville
Harold Earl Haller, 79, of Boonville, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
He was born Aug. 7, 1924, in Cooper County, a son of Edson and Gertrude Hoff Haller. On March 22, 1959, in Boonville, he was married to Jean Schnell, who survives of the home.
Mr. Haller was a member of the Nelson United Methodist Church; a charter board member of the Cooper County Fire Protection District; a lifetime member of the Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association; serving as past president for 10 years; past 4-H Club leader of the West Boonville 4-H Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, inventing, playing the harmonica and reading. He also enjoyed steam engines and dogs.
Also surviving were two sons, Harold Schnell Haller and Earl Edson Haller, both of Boonville; one daughter, Velma Margaret Lane, of Boonville; three sisters, Alice Painter, of Pilot Grove, Alvera Baslee, of Boonville, and Helen Verts, of Sedalia; one brother, Milford Haller, of Boonville; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother, Andrew.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church in Boonville, with the Rev. Dan Faust officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church in Boonville.
Pallbearers are David Schnell, Gary Schnell, Tom Schnell, Nickolas Haller, Luke Haller and Edward Paul Lang.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church.
