Delton "Bob" Bender, 84, Bismarck, passed away on March 4, 2014, at home.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 8, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with Rev. Matthew Zuehlke officiating.
Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 10, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Family will be greeting visitors from 4:30 pm ? 6:30 pm Friday, March 7, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.
Delton "Bob" was born March 22, 1929, in Underwood, ND, to Philip and Emma (Schell) Bender. He attended rural schools of Underwood, Turtle Lake, and Sanger, and attended high school in Hensler, ND. He moved to Bismarck in 1945 and was employed at the Bismarck Tribune from 1946-1991 where he started as city delivery, pressman, and then pressman foreman until retirement.
Bob served with the US Army from 1951-1953 during The Korean Conflict. He married Leila Gray on March 11, 1956, in Bismarck. Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Amvets, American Legion, Eagles, and The Moose. With his big smile and warm heart he made everyone feel like his friend for life.
Bob is survived by his wife, Leila, Bismarck; two daughters, Lynell (Bob), Tuscaloosa, AL, and LaShell (Dan), Las Vegas, NV; one grandson, Tyler, Las Vegas, NV; and two sisters, Beatrice Keator, Bismarck, and Agnes Krehlik, Dickinson.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Colby, who passed away at St. Jude Children's Hospital; his parents; four brothers, Alfred, Bert, Clarence and Irvin; and one sister, Faye.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the childcare center located at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, or a charity of one's choice.
