MR. JAMES E. GEBHART, 82, of Yucaipa, died at home on April 18, 2004. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio, on March 14, 1922. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Stalnaker) Gebhart. He was preceded in death by a son, Frederick. Surviving daughters are Eleanor Diaz (spouse Rene) of Porterville, Mary Faye Watson (spouse James) of San Bernardino, Jeannie La Cues (spouse Rick) of Ontario, Margaret Stallings (spouse Jerry) of Highland , and Brenda Sue Shull (spouse Doug) of Bloomington. Surviving sons are James Michael (spouse Joyce) of Highland and John of San Bernardino. Brothers are Richard Eugene Gebhart of Lancaster, OH, and Frederick Charles Gebhart of Norwalk, CA. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his constant companion "Lucky Dog". James served 12 years in the military. He was with the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific, with the U.S. Army as a railroad brakeman an d was stationed at Port Columbus, OH, during the Korean conflict. He retired from Hajoca Corporation as a shipping and receiving clerk and as a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 467. James was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Yucaipa, the Loma Linda Knights of Columbus #9037, the VFW Post 7347, the American Legion Post 0426 and was a San Bernardino County Sheriff Dept. citizen volunteer. He was the recipient of many recognitions and awards for his community and church volunteer work. Viewing is on Monday, April 26, 2004, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Harrison-Ross Mortuary in San Bernardino with a rosary to follow from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. Mass is on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Yucaipa with internment following at the Riverside National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Loma Linda Knights of Columbus #9037 Building Fund.
