Selma M. Meyer, 83, of Rock Island, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, where she was a member. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice.
Selma was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Muscatine, Iowa. She married Edmund J. Meyer, May 28, 1938, in Rock Island. He died Jan. 2, 1987.
Selma, along with her husband, owned and operated Meyer Gardens in Rock Island, for 45 years before they both retired in 1983.
She was a past member of TPA Post Q.C. for five years.
She is survived by daughters, Sue and her husband, Mark Schaecher and Judith Meyer, all of Rock Island; sons, Michael Meyer, Davenport, and Daniel Meyer, Snow Camp, N.C.; grandchildren, Kelly, Scott, Jeff, Matt, Michelle, Katie and Maggie; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
