Margaret Fisher, 93, of the Solen & St. Anthony, ND area, died March 20, 2013 at St. Gabriel's Community in Bismarck, with her family at her side.
Mass of Chritian Burial will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 10:00 am at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Christopher Kadrmas as celebrant.
Burial will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 1:00-9:00 pm Weigel Funeral Home, with Parish Rosary/Vigil at 5:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Margaret was born May 3, 1919 in Breien, ND to John G. and Veronica (Steckler) Fleck. She was raised and educated in the Solen and St. Anthony area.
She married Orlee Fisher on September 3, 1940 at St. Anthony. After their marriage they farmed in that area. Margaret lived life to the fullest, her family was central in her life especially her children, granchildren and great-grandchildren. With all the tasks and responsibilities of a family she had time and the ability to do whatever was needed on the farm. Whether it was working with the cattle, driving a tractor and the the physical labor that was required. These tasks often times would require her skills as a carpenter. At the annual day for butchering she supervised her famous recipe for sausage. Margaret was a gifted seamstress and could take anything apart and re-sew without using a pattern. She was an excellent cook with her specialties being German recipes, homemade root beer, lemon pies, chicken and an often requested German potato salad. She enjoyed a competitive card game of whist. She would grace the dance floor with a polka and as a young girl she played the organ at church in Fallen, ND. Her social nature included trips to Prairie Knights Casino. She was known to always say "Drink apple juice" to any question about staying healthy.
Her generosity and dedication were limitless, taking care of her husband for 20 years after he had suffered from a severe stroke. Always with pride, John and Delila farm on the family farm continuing the proud tradition. Above all, the love she had for her family was always present which extended today with her family by her side. These special memories will be cherished and describes a woman of great strength, compassion and love for all those who surrounded her.
Margaret will be deeply missed by her children, Wilbert "Bill" (Donna), Solen, ND, Alberta (Leonard) Berger, St. Anthony, ND, Pearl (Richard) Rhone, Mandan, ND and Orlee "John" (Delila), Solen, ND; brother, Clemence (Ann) Fleck, Bismarck, ND; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Special friends Ron and Sally Kraft, Bismarck, also remaining are sisters-in-law, Loretta Fisher, Esther Fisher, Regina Fisher, Mary Fisher, Alice Lundstrom and Barbara Saumell.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Orlee, who died February 25, 2001; granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Fisher; sisters, Katie, Tillie, Mary, Veronica, Cecelia and Rose; brothers, Anton, Joseph, George, Johnny and 4 infant siblings.
