Russell Owen Dewald, 41, Bismarck, died April 7, 1998, in Bismarck, from injuries sustained in an airplane crash.
Mr. Dewald was born Dec. 6, 1956, in Gackle, N.D., the son of Otto and Lea (Buck) Dewald. He grew up and was educated in Streeter, N.D. He attended North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, N.D. He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and majored in aviation at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. He married Kathy Gale Brunner Aug. 20, 1982. In 1990 he graduated from the University of North Dakota. They lived in Bismarck, where he worked in the aviation field. He was employed with Corporate Air, Billings, Mont. He had his commercial pilots license, instrument rating, multi engine rating and was a flight instructor since May 1988. He had thousands of hours of flying time. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, fishing, hunting and car races.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Levi, and a daughter, Katie, all of Bismarck; his parents, Streeter; and a sister, Carey Brock, Modesto, Calif.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Church of God of Prophecy, Bismarck, with the Rev. Barry Lee Officiating.
Prayer Services: 7:30 p.m. today, Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Bismarck.
Visitation: Noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, and one hour before the services Friday at the church.
Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, N.D.
