Walter Delmar Ketterling
Walter Delmar Ketterling was born at the family home north of Zeeland, North Dakota on October 5, 1938, the son of Otto and Othelia (Meidinger) Ketterling. He attended rural school and worked on the farm. He met the love of his life, Evangeline Sayler and they were married December 9, 1963 in Lehr, North Dakota. They made their home in Artas, South Dakota for about 2 years and moved to the family farm north of Zeeland where they had a dairy and farming business. Walter and Evangeline moved to Wishek, North Dakota in 2003 where he retired. Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed time on the farm, playing cards and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed tinkering on old tractors and cars, especially his 1965 white Chevy Impala. Walter will always be remembered as a kind, loving, patient and humble man and will be greatly missed.
Walter passed away April 15, 2017 at the Wishek Community Hospital. He was 78 years old.
Walter is survived by his wife, Evangeline, Wishek, North Dakota; two sons, Terry (Lise) Ketterling, Wishek, North Dakota; Bruce (Karen) Ketterling, Navarre, Florida; one daughter Tracy (Marlin) Fetzer, Zeeland, North Dakota; two brothers; Arndt (Freida) Ketterling, Wishek, North Dakota; Gerhardt (Lavonne) Ketterling, Zeeland, North Dakota; and one sister Sharon (Gary) Bollinger, Cold Spring, Minnesota; six grandchildren; Alec and Parker Ketterling; Savanna, Jessica and Nicholas Fetzer; and Kaela Surface. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Earl, one sister-in-law, Norma Peterson; three brothers-in-law; Andy Mosset, Barry Peterson and Jim Nagel.
A private family service is being planned.
