Melvina Meidinger passed from this life on February 20, 2016 after losing an unrelenting battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born March 22, 1933 in rural McIntosh County to Arthur C. and Frieda (Aipperspach) Meidinger. Melvina was the oldest of three children. The first eight years of her formal education were completed in a rural school. She married Joseph Meidinger on January 11, 1953. They raised three children on their farm southwest of Wishek. As a young mother Melvina taught Sunday school and Bible School. After her children completed high school Melvina attended classes with an adult education group and achieved her goal of procuring a GED. Church was an important part of Melvina's life. She was a faithful member of St Luke Lutheran Church and a member of St Luke Choir. Because music was an important part of her heritage she was also a member of the German Choir. Additionally Joseph and Melvina enjoyed square dancing and traveled to square dance meets and performances around the state. Joseph and Melvina retired from farming in 1995. They continued to enjoy rural living until 2007 when they loaded up the house and moved it to Wishek. Melvina was a kind person devoted to her family. She enjoyed the company of her children and warmly welcomed her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. As a self-taught seamstress Melvina sewed a large percentage of her family's attire. She enjoyed ceramics and became an accomplished quilter. Her family reaped the benefits of her talent in the form of gifts and keepsakes. During her lifetime Melvina was a member of several organizations including St. Luke Women of the Church, The Wishek Saddle Club, The Wishek Diamond Squares and Homespun Friends. Melvina was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings who died in infancy.
