Rose Ernst
Roscoe -- The funeral for Rose Ernst, 95, of Roscoe will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Roscoe. The Rev. Winfried Schroeder will officiate.
Burial will be in the Morningside Cemetery in Roscoe with Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Bowdle. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church in Roscoe.
She died Monday, July 2, 2001, at the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home.
Rose Schick was born Aug. 29, 1905, to Rosina (Oster) and William Schick on a farm near Bowdle. She was raised in the Bowdle area and attended rural school. She helped on the farm and at home following her education.
She married Emil Ernst on Dec. 13, 1925, in Hosmer. They lived and farmed on his family homestead 4 1/2 miles west of Roscoe. He died Oct. 1, 1981. The next spring, she moved into Roscoe. This is where she lived until entering the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home Sept. 2, 2000.
She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Roscoe and the Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Roscoe Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed growing flowers and cooking.
Survivors include two sons, Lloyd A. (Ardella) Ernst of Gainesville, Va., and LeRoy H. (Arlene) Ernst of Bismarck, N.D.; one sister, Mathilda Kirschenmann of Roscoe; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, two brothers and five sisters.
