EVELYN ALBRECHT
Evelyn ALBRECHT, 79, of 711 S. Cottage Ave., Normal, formerly of Tiskilwa, died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 27, 1998) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Willow Springs Mennonite Church, rural Tiskilwa, the Rev. Cal Zehr officiating.
Burial will be in Willow Springs Cemetery, rural Tiskilwa.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Otto-Argo Funeral Home, Eureka.
Memorials may be made to Illinois Mennonite Historical and Genealogical Society, Metamora; and Tiskilwa Township Library.
She was born Feb. 20, 1919, at Eureka, a daughter of Ellis and Clara Smith Sharp.
She married Harold ALBRECHT on April 13, 1947, at Eureka. He died May 21, 1993.
Surviving are one son, John (Karen) ALBRECHT, Napa, Calif.;
two daughters, Lita (Dean) Turner, Santa Cruz, CA;
and Helen (Pete) Hettinger, rural Eureka;
three sisters, Margaret (Deryl) Schertz, Henry; Rosemary (Calvin) Hartter, Eureka; and Geneva (John) Troyer, Park Falls, Wis.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, Katie, Michael and Ross Hettinger.
Mrs. Albrecht attended Eureka College and graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor?s degree in home economics.
She served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, then served as home adviser of Henderson County Extension for two years before her marriage.
She earned her master?s degree in library science from the University of Illinois during the 1970s, then served as librarian for the Tiskilwa public schools.
Mr. & Mrs. Albrecht farmed at rural Tiskilwa for many years.
Mrs. Albrecht was involved in many organizations, most recently volunteering her time at the Illinois Mennonite Historical and Genealogical Society in Metamora.
She moved to the Mennonite Residential Community, Normal, in 1995.
She was a member of the Mennonite Church in Normal.
