DUMONT ? Henry F. Schaf Jr., 87, of Dumont died at his home on Jan. 30.
He attended Regis High School in New York City, graduating in 1944.
Mr. Schaf was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an electronic technician?s mate.
Upon his return from the service, he attended Lehigh University, earning a bachelor?s degree in engineering, and went on to earn an MBA from Seton Hall University.
He was employed as an engineer, retiring from ITT in Nutley.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary?s R.C. Church, Dumont, where he served as a lector, Eucharistic minister. He was a past commander of the Rev. Henry W. O?Neill Catholic War Veterans Post 261, and a member and past president of the Dumont Board of Health.
He was predeceased in 1993 by his sister, Sister Anne Schaf of the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
Surviving are his sister, Frances Schueler, and many cousins.
The family welcomed friends Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont.
A funeral Mass was offered Monday, Feb. 3, at St. Mary?s R.C. Church. Interment was in St. Anthony?s Cemetery, Nanuet, N.Y.

BIOGRAPHY
HENRY F. SCHAF Jr., 87, of Dumont, passed away at his home on January 30, 2014. He will be sadly missed by his devoted sister, Frances Schueler and many cousins. Henry is predeceased by his sister, Sister Anne Schaf SSND (1993).
Henry attended Regis H.S., NYC, graduated 1944, and was a proud Navy Veteran serving during World War II as an Electronic Technician?s Mate. Upon his return, he attended Lehigh University, earning a B.S. in Engineering. Henry then went on to earn a MBA from Seton Hall University. He was employed as an Engineer retiring from ITT, Nutley. Henry was a parishioner of St. Mary?s Church where he served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and was Past Commander of Rev. Henry W. O?Neill Catholic War Veterans Post #261. He was also a member and past president of Dumont Board of Health. Henry loved reading, classical music, crossword puzzles and skiing. He enjoyed traveling and was a great aficionado of trains and cruise ships.
The Funeral Mass will be offered Monday, February 3, 2014, 10 A.M., St. Mary?s R.C. Church. Interment St. Anthony?s Cemetery, Nanuet. The family will welcome friends Sunday, February 2, 2014, 1-5 PM at the Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Mary?s R.C. Church and the Dumont Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The family wishes to extend their heart-felt appreciation to Homewell Senior Care and VNA Hospice of Englewood Hospital.
