Life-Scout Troop 244
Hitchcock, Texas
Kenny loved boy Scouts. He started when he was 8 yrs old with Pack 169 at St. Patricks Galveston Island , Texas in 1984. He entered boy scouts at 11 years old in 3-Rivers Council, Pennsylvania. He became disabled in 1989 while in Pennsylvania and then when he was 15 yrs old returned to Galveston.
He joined Troop 111 in Galveston, Texas, and really wanted to be able to continue Scouting with a goal to get his Eagle. He was able to join the Order of the Arrow as an Ordeal Member and also participate in summer and winter camps.
Being disabled He has had a very long road achieving the rank of Life Scout inspite of hurricanes and hospitalizations in his life.
He still was able to camp, traveled and wondered the USA along with the members of his Troop 244 from Hitchcock, Texas. Some of the members chose traveling the White Water in Colorado Spring. He choosing instead to ride with his dad and brother to Pikes Peak to the 14,000 ft summit. Kennith has had opportunities to fly in commercial jets and ride in his brother?s sail-boat and even though disabled Kennith has been places others only wish to see and it seemed his life?s purpose was Scouting.
In Scouting he has traveled to Valley Forge, to Daniel Boon?s homestead, He has also been in the Smithsonian Institute in Philadelphia, He has been on top of Enchanted Rock in Austin Texas, The Nimmits Museum in Fredericksburg, He has wandered the Homestead of President Johnson, has been several times to the Guadalupe Mountains and even to Ruidoso, New Mexico and He has been in the Alien Museum in Roswell, New Mexico as well. Scouting give him the life he was missing and he enjoyed so very much.
But it always seemed that he was waiting at heavens door, trying several times to enter. However, he had to wait his turn, Finally the gates were opened for him and now he is with his Grandparents and in a better place.
Kennith is the son of William Vogler of Hitchcock and Susan Nist of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM at Shrine of the True Cross, 300 Fm 517 Rd East, Dickinson, TX. Father Larry Wilson officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Elm Grove, WV.
