Fran Pallesen née Dries:
Maria Catharina Eberle, my 2nd great-grandmother immigrated to America in 1854. Maria Catharina was daughter of Nicolai Eberle and Anna "Barbara" Bollinger. Maria Catharina was born 05 Nov 1805 in Blankenborn. She married Franciscus Anton Schweitzer on 30 Apr 1827. Their children were:
Nicholaus (b. 14 Mar 1828), Sebastianus (b. 15 Jun 1830), Anna Maria (b. 08 Jan 1833, d. 1836), Catherine (my great-grandmother b. 03 Apr 1835), Bernardus (b 19 Nov 1837, d. 1840), Margaretha (b. 18 Apr 1845). Franz Anton Schweitzer died 11 Jun 1846 in what appears to be an epidemic of some kind, as his brother Georg Peter Schweitzer died on 26 May 1846 and his mother Catarina Barbara (Gast) Schweitzer died on 13 Jun 1846. In Sept 1854, Maria Catharina (Eberle) Schweitzer and her children, Nicholas, Catherine and Margareth immigrated to America aboard the ship, Rotunda, which sailed from Havre to New York. The family moved to Minnesota. Maria Catharina died in St. Paul, Minnesota on 15 Jun 1888. (I was so excited in Sept.2001 to find her tombstone in the Calvary Cemetery in St. Paul.) Her son Nicholas died 15 Feb 1900 in St. Paul, Minnesota and daughter Margareth (Schweitzer) Wehle died 16 Mar 1890 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Daughter, Catherine married John Dries (my g-grandfather, b. 17May1826 in Reisdorf, d. 05Jul1892 in Rochester, New York, USA). Catherine and John Dries married on 20 April1856 in Rochester, New York, USA. I am not confident I have found the immigration record for John Dries, however, it was sometime between 1850 and 1854. He may have been on the same ship as the Schweitzer family, however, the spelling is not very clear. Also, when Maria Catharina and family moved to Minnesota, they first went to Shakopee and later moved to St. Paul, where they all died.
