Transcription of 50th Wedding Anniversary
By Rev Emil F KRAUSE: March 18, 1954
Brother and Sister Fred C. Bender, Lodi, Calif.
After the many relatives and friends had taken their place in the beautifully decorated hall, Br. and Sister Bender were led to their place of honor. Suitable music was filling the hall. Under the direction of Br. G. G. Hust, a fine program followed.
The pastor, G. G. Rauser, opened the celebration with Scripture-reading and prayer. A male-quartet sang two selections. Mrs. Dena Burch, a niece of Benders, sang the 23rd Psalm.
Mr. and Mrs. Rauser sang: "Out of the Heart, the Love Flows"; and August Auch and Harold Wells brought short greetings for this occasion.
John Edinger gave a short summary of their life over 50 years.
The pastor presented Br. and Sis. Bender a golden wreath on behalf of the congregation; and spoke suitable words of appreciation and good-wishes.
The friends and guests then enjoyed a wedding luncheon. The Sisters of the congregation prepared it under the direction of Mrs. G. G. Hust.
Jan. 12, 1904, B. & Sister Bender were married in Hebron, North Dakota. They were blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters. One daughter died several years ago. They have seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
In 1919, they came to California, and Br. Bender worked as a carpenter. In 1947, he retired.
They are faithful members of the Baptist Church, and they have many friends there.
We wish Br. and Sister Bender many more years of good health, and blessed togetherness under the Grace and the Love of God.
G. G. Rauser, pastor,
NOTE: It is common for Baptists to refer to each other as "Brother" and "Sister", even though there is no blood relation. There is no English translation for the German "Geschwister". That is why we use, "Brother" and "Sister".
