Pvt. Donald Raymond Goehring of the U.S. Army Coast artillery is stationed in Africa. He was inducted Oct. 20, 1942 and is the son of Mrs. Margaret Goehring of Woodsfield. His aunt, Mrs. Bessie Wagner, resides at 333 North Seventh street in this city.

Donald R. Goehring , age 77, of Canton, Ohio, passed away late Wednesday, April 16, 1997 in Manor Care Nursing home following a long illness. He was born December 1, 1919 in Woodsfield, Oh. to the late William and Margaret (Lang) Goehring, and had lived most of his life in Canton. He retired in 1980 from the Iron Workers Local No. 550 where he was employed as their Business Agent. A member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, William McKinley Masonic Lodge No. 431 F&AM, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, all of Canton, and Tadmor Temple of Akron. He had volunteered many hours at the Veterans Administration Canton and Aultman Hospital. Served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army during WWII. Preceded in death by his first wife, Verna M. (White); second wife, Edith R. (Minigh); third wife, Aurelia M. (Eli); 2 sisters, Martha White and Maxine Goehring. Survived by 2 daughters and one son-in-law, Margaret Anne Goehring of Columbus, Andrea and Thomas Roeble of Grandview Heights; 2 grandsons, Samuel Isaac and Adam David Roeble; sister, Blanche Goehring of Marble Cliff; niece, Barbara (Ron) Rice of Canton, many friends, business associates and extended family throughout Ohio. Funeral service was Monday, April 21 in Canton. Burial Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens.
