Obituary of William H. McClure, Jr.
William Herbert McClure, Jr, 88, passed away March 14, 2013 at his home in Wichita, KS. He was the son of William Herbert McClure, Sr. and Mildred Mary Newsham McClure born October 13, 1924 at Republic, KS.
He attended Republic Grade School and High School, graduating in 1942 and attended Kansas State University. He served in the Navy from 1944-46.
On December 29, 1946, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Carlson. They had two children, Alan and Alana. Bill lived in Republic and farmed most of his life.
In 1939, he became a member of the Methodist Church and later the United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Belleville Masonic Lodge, #129 A.F. and A.M., Republic American Legion Post 232, and served on the Republic School Board, Rae Hobson Memorial Library, and Republic City Council.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, and son Alan McClure.
Survivors include his wife of sixty six years, Evelyn, daughter, Alana and husband Mike Maris of Wichita, KS; daughter-in-law, Marybeth Harwick of Shelby Township, MI; granddaughter, Misti and husband Joe Burch of Wichita, KS; grandson Spencer and wife Erin McClure of Fort Worth, TX, other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at ELEVEN AM, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Prairie Rose Cemetery, rural Republic, KS with Pastor Roger Walls, officiating.
Interment will follow the graveside services.
Military graveside rites will be performed by Republic American Legion Post # 232.
Visitation will be from 9AM until 9PM on Monday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS
