Mrs. Ramona Streyle, age 78, of Hull, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, April 6, at 10:30am, at the Hull Protestant Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. James Laning will officiate. There will be a graveside service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull, with Richard Moore officiating. Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Tuesday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.
Ramona Elaine was born on August 30, 1932, in Menno, South Dakota, the daughter of Enoch Benjamin and Ella (Diede) Hauck. She was raised in Forbes, North Dakota. As an adult, she moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota, where she was employed by the City of Aberdeen and later by Investors Diversified Services.
On July 15, 1959, she married Gustave John Streyle in Aberdeen. They first farmed at Isabel, South Dakota, and then moved to the family farm at Forbes. In 1977, they semi-retired to Isabel. In 1991, they moved to Hull, where she was employed by Den Hoed?s Greenhouse and the Foreign Candy Company. She also worked at Subway in Sioux Center and Rock Valley.
Mrs. Streyle was a member of the Hull Protestant Reformed Church, where she participated in the women?s organizations and Bible studies and sang in the choir. She volunteered at the Protestant Reformed Christian Elementary School, the Pleasant Acres Care Center, and the Treasure Chest, all in Hull. She enjoyed collecting coins and stamps and was known to many as ?Grandma?.
Survivors include her husband of over 51 years; a son and his wife, John and LeAnn Streyle, and a daughter and her husband, Elaine and Michael Rau, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan; eleven grandchildren, Katharina, and her husband, Elvis Rosario; Adam, Grant, Patrick, and Matthew Streyle; Nathan Rau; Benjamin Rau, and his wife, Brenda; and Erin, Joel, Leah, and Stefan Rau; a brother, Donald Hauck, of Grand Rapids; and two sisters, Jannet, and her husband, Richard Moore, of Holland, Michigan; and Diane James, of Rapid City, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters, Idella Spitzer, Willard Hauck, and Shirley Ganser.
Memorials will be directed to the Hull Protestant Reformed Christian Elementary School.
