The funeral for Marvin Meidinger, Wishek, ND will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the United Church of Christ at Wishek, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at New Kassel Cemetery, rural Wishek, ND.
Marvin A Meidinger, son of Albert C and Emma (Schwind) Meidinger was born May 2, 1933 on the family farm near Zeeland, ND. He attended country school and helped on the family farm until he was drafted into the Army in June of 1953. He completed basic training April 1954 at fort Leonardwood, MO. Marvin married Delores Just on May 9, 1954, at St. James Lutheran Church in Wishek, ND. Marvin was then stationed for one year in Pusson, Korea, returning home in 1955. Marvin and Delores farmed thirteen miles west and three miles south of Wishek, ND until the 1990's when Marvin then opened a welding and repair shop, Mar-Del's Manufacturing, in Wishek, ND. He retired in May of 2006. Marvin and Delores moved into Wishek in 2011. Marvin's greatest attribute was that he was a hard worker, his work ethic was "Do it right the first time". He lived a life filled with family and friends. Marvin was a giver of time and talents and praise fed his soul. He was a problem solver, analyzer, engineer, craftsman, farmer, a thinker, a story teller. Marvin enjoyed learning new things and was proud of his homemade sausage recipe. He loved woodworking, fishing, hunting and driving go cart with his grandkids. Marvin was a member of the United Church of Christ and served on the Church Council for many years. He also served on committees of the Northern Plains Conference of the United Church of Christ and attended Conference Annual meetings as a delegate for his local church. Marvin was a member of the American Legion.
Marvin died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Wishek Hospital, Wishek, ND. He was 80 years old.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Delores, Wishek, ND; two daughters, Michele, Wishek, ND; Valentina (Guydon) Dandrea, Maple Grove, MN; four sons, Clyde Meidinger, Minneapolis, MN; Verdean (Shelly) Meidinger, Dickinson, ND; Craig (Heather) Meidinger, Woodbury, MN; Michael (Kristi) Meidinger, Dickinson, ND; twelve grandchildren, April (Sean) Burton; Trevor (LaRae) Williamson; Crystal (Johnny Emerson) Williamson; Phillip Meidinger; Lindsey Rusch; Tyson Meidinger; Tanner (Katelyn Shirado) Meidinger; Jordan Meidinger; Jacob (Jennifer Davies) Meidinger; Brittany Meidinger; Ciara Meidinger; and Kaily Butts; five great-grandchildren, Emmalynn, Annemarie, Wyatt, Sage and Cash; five sisters, Luella (Delton) Davis, Bismarck, ND; Alma Rath, Wishek, ND; Lorraine (Adam) Kaseman, Jamestown, ND; Alvina (Herman) Sayler, Wishek, ND; Arlene (Melvin) Kaseman, Aberdeen, SD; four brothers, Wilbert (Landina) Meidinger, Wishek, ND; Wilmer (Wilma) Meidinger, Wishek, ND; Edgar (Phyllis) Meidinger, Zeeland, ND; Ellon (Rachel) Meidinger, Zeeland, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gertrude and Viola.
